About Alamo Angels
History
Alamo Angels is one of Texas’s most active angel investor networks, committed to fueling early-stage innovation and building a stronger entrepreneurial ecosystem across San Antonio and Texas. Since our founding, we’ve grown from 32 to over 140 accredited investors and deployed more than $7 million across 50+ startups.
Originally launched with the support of VelocityTX, Alamo Angels is now operating independently as a 501(c)(6) nonprofit. We host monthly pitch events, provide investor education, and serve as a bridge between high-potential founders and strategic capital. Our community includes C-level executives, business leaders, and experienced investors passionate about backing the next generation of transformative companies.
As part of our next chapter, we’ve partnered with VentureSTX. This new platform will help manage SPVs and facilitate the execution of investment activity stemming from the Alamo Angels ecosystem. Created by a powerhouse group of investors and operators, VentureSTX handles SPV formation, deal diligence, legal compliance, and reporting, allowing us to scale capital deployment, improve execution, and reduce operating costs.
Under this structure:
- Alamo Angels remains a nonprofit, continuing to lead events, education, and founder engagement — now a stronger foundation with the support of VentureSTX.
- VentureSTX will manage the execution of investments, similar to the role VelocityTX played in the past, but now contribute a portion of any financial gains back to Alamo Angels, reinforcing long-term sustainability.
- Members gain access to both early-stage and off-cycle investment opportunities, including later-stage and pre-IPO deals.
Together, Alamo Angels and VentureSTX are accelerating the pace of innovation across Texas and beyond. By combining community-driven engagement with professional investment infrastructure, we’re channeling capital into high-potential startups and helping founders scale with greater speed, support, and confidence. Our approach is designed to strengthen the innovation economy and position our network as a leading force in early-stage investment.
